From idea to impact: innovation award for MCube Consulting (July 25)

MCube Consulting wins the Innovation Award of the City of Munich - fur consulting arm MCube Consulting was awarded the Innovation Prize 2025 for an intelligent, geodata-based solution for digitizing the event process.

On 24.07.2025 at the Munich Urban Colab, we received the award from the second mayor Dominik KrauseDistrict Administrative Officer Dr. Hanna Sammüller and economic advisor Dr. Christian Scharpf a strong signal for applied research and innovation in and for Munich.

The challenge:

Around 9,000 events per year are applied for in Munich - so far via a time-consuming, often analog process with a high communication effort and potential for error. Short: A digital, structured solution is needed.

Our answer:

An end-to-end digital application process - intuitive, efficient and secure. But the real innovative leap lies in the Geodata analysis frameworkOrganizers outline their plans directly on the city map. This information is analyzed automatically - for a proactive review by the authorities.

Among other things, the following are checked:

  • Traffic disruptions due to road closures
  • Availability and accessibility of escape routes
  • Maximum number of people in the context of the venue

This intelligent evaluation provides the police and fire department with a sound, reliable basis for decision-making - with less coordination effort and more transparency.

Research that works:

The solution is based on the MCube innovation project DatSim and shows impressively: How cutting-edge research in the MCube future cluster is turning into concrete applications with added value for society.

What's next?

From fall 2025, MCube Consulting will start the Co-Creation with the KVR and the Munich Fire Department: developing, testing and implementing prototypes - together, practically and with a view to everyday urban life.

Our thanks:

Congratulations also to all the other award winners - what potential for innovation in this city!
And a huge thank you to our great team around Fabian Schumann, Felix Waldner and all those who made this project possible - especially Frieke Meijer-Schepman and team.
