What happens in the project?
The MOBIPIONIER project is conducting an exciting experiment with an app to find out how various measures can encourage people to use environmentally friendly means of transport more often. In this real-life laboratory, some car drivers are given a Germany ticket and credit for bike and car sharing for a certain period of time. The aim is to encourage them to leave their own car at home more often. Other participants receive detailed feedback and information about their mobility behavior. This data helps to understand how such information can influence traffic behavior. The project is therefore investigating how positive incentives such as free tickets and useful information can be used to make mobility in the city more sustainable.
What problem does MOBIPIONIER solve?
MOBIPIONIER addresses the major issue of modal shift. The aim is to reduce the negative effects of traffic, such as air pollution and traffic jams. The project takes a different approach to bans or fines. It creates incentives and provides information to encourage people to adopt more environmentally friendly mobility. This approach attempts to achieve a lasting change in mobility behavior that is beneficial for both people and the environment.
Who is affected?
People who are on the move in Munich, such as commuters and local residents, are particularly affected. MOBIPIONIER is developing a platform for studies that can also be used in other cities and projects. The results of the project will benefit not only the transport companies, but also citizens of the Munich region, the city of Munich and other political and social groups.
