INVITATION: MCube Speaker Series „Future of Mobility“ – How bicycles are changing the world: green delivery services, sustainable mobility, livable cities, and better health. Where can bicycles bring improvements, and what are the limits?
One of the main reasons people hesitate to ride bicycles is the subjective feeling of insecurity when sharing the road with motorized traffic. Currently, cycling accounts for approximately 8% of all trips in the EU. With the right support and suitable infrastructure, cycling in the EU could increase by at least 50% in the coming years. Additionally, the growing demand for online shopping has led to an increase in delivery trips, contributing to traffic congestion and air pollution. To reverse this trend, public authorities should promote the use of cargo bikes. According to the EU-funded project Cyclelogistics, 42% of all motorized trips could potentially be shifted to bicycles.
Cycling has the potential to revolutionize urban mobility, but we must address concerns regarding personal safety and provide secure cycling infrastructure. Join us as we explore the following topics:

Prof. Marco Dozza
Professor of Active Safety and Road User Behavior at the Department of Mechanics and Maritime Sciences, Chalmers University of Technology
Marco Dozza received the Ph.D. degree in bioengineering from the University of Bologna, Italy, in collaboration with Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon, USA, in 2007. After graduation, he worked as a System Developer with Volvo Technology, a research and innovation company inside the Volvo Group. Since 2009, he has been with the Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, where he is currently a full professor and leads the research group for Crash Analysis and Prevention. He is an examiner for the course Active Safety in the Master’s Programme for Mobility Engineering and collaborates with SAFER, the Vehicle and Traffic Safety Center at Chalmers.

Maria Deingruber
ADFC Bayern
Maria Deingruber is the deputy chair of the ADFC in Bavaria (German Cyclist Association) since 2021. Beforehand she was on the Executive Board of the ADFC Munich for several years. As part of that role, she initiated the Munich Bicycle Referendum (Radentscheid München) within the ADFC Munich. Her focus lies on a social, affordable and sustainable mobility transition. Micro mobility – everything between the bicycle, the skateboard and the electric scooter – is an important building block within the mobility transition which especially allows for short to middle-length trips to be undertaken. Maria Deingruber is a social scientist with a background in political science, sociology and philosophy. Since 2018 she works for the City of Munich and is currently the speaker for mobility for the SPD/Volt- City Council.
Prof. Anja Huemer
Professor of Traffic Psychology at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, University of the Bundeswehr Munich
Studying Psychology at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Professor Huemer graduated with a doctoral degree with the topic „distractions in road traffic“ in 2012. This research involved measuring distraction frequencies and cognitive implications of secondary activities whilst driving. After completing her Ph.D. she worked as an academic councillor for the Chair of Engineering and Traffic Psychology in Braunschweig until 2014. The following year she worked as a guest professor for Engineering/Cognitive Ergonomics at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She subsequently returned to the Chair of Engineering and Traffic Psychology to work as a research assistant in 2015. Currently, Prof. Huemer’s research focuses on the objective and subjective safety as well as the comfort for so-called unprotected road users. Survey studies and experimental designs in bicycle and car simulators support her research. Her goal is to create a traffic environment that addresses the diverse needs of all road users and to establish a future-proof user-centric mobility system.
Peter Blösl
B4B Logistics Gründer/ Sustainability Manager bei Hermes (new urban logistic concepts)
From 1989 to 2021 Peter Blösl worked in several management positions at UPS. In 2021 he co-founded B4B Logistics which celebrated its operational start on the 5th of June 2023. Now 60 years old, he started a position as Sustainability Manager at Hermes Germany in March 2023.
