Autonomous driving in complex situations
KICK-OFF
The kick-off meeting took place successfully. The project partners met, introduced themselves and exchanged information about the project. The goal of the meeting was to create a common understanding of the project goal and the distribution of tasks.
M1: DEFINITION OF METHODS
At the first milestone, the methods and tools for the project were defined. This is an important step in project planning, as it lays the foundation for the successful implementation of the project.
M2: SIMULATION ENVIRONMENT FOR V.01
The simulation hardware was successfully set up and the simulation environment developed. This was a crucial step in the project implementation as it allows us to run our simulations and gain important insights.
Autonomous driving in complex situations
The consortium believes that the knowledge and technology for a fully automated mobility solution already exist today. The goal of this research project is to use an existing research vehicle from the Technical University of Munich to demonstrate fully automated driving around the Theresienwiese during the Oktoberfest in Munich. This will be the first time that an automated mobility solution is implemented that ensures robust and safe operation even under extreme boundary conditions (unstructured traffic, large number of different road users, day and night driving). The limits of automation are addressed with the use of teleoperation in conjunction with a control room. The result is robust algorithms and software for automated driving in unstructured urban environments.
