CORDIAL INVITATION
Bürger*innen Fest, on June 17, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Südliche Au, from Schlotthauer Straße via Kolumbusstraße to Edlingerplatz.
What could the future of mobility in urban districts look like? This summer, the Südliche Au district in Munich is testing how less car traffic, alternative mobility options and more space for people are possible. A section of Kolumbusstraße is being transformed into a green meadow and sandy area for recreation and leisure activities. The corresponding measures on site include new mobility points where shared mobility services are bundled. From July, bicycles can also be repaired at a bicycle hub and the first urban gardening projects are already bearing fruit. A detailed overview of the traffic measures can be found on the website of muenchenunterwegs.de/aqt.

aqt - car-reduced neighborhoods for a livable city
aqt is one of fourteen innovation projects within the MCube future cluster funded by the German government. Led by TUM together with the City of Munich, Stadtwerke München, the Hans Sauer Foundation and UnternehmerTUM, the project is investigating what sustainable mobility in urban neighborhoods could look like. To this end, individual streets in the "Südliche Au" and "Walchenseeplatz" parking license areas will be temporarily converted into car-reduced spaces for new forms of mobility, recreation and more space for people until the end of October 2023.
Against the backdrop of ongoing climate change and with the aim of achieving a fairer distribution of street space, TUM scientists are investigating the opportunities that car-reduced neighborhoods offer for public space in general and, above all, for the people who live and work there. Through various participation and information events as well as numerous individual discussions, residents have been able to express their wishes, help shape the pilot project and give their opinion on the individual project components.
