Research assistant (m/f/d) in the MobiPionier project

Become a research assistant at the TUM Chair of Mobility Policy from April 01, 2026 and support us in the MCube project MobiPionier.

In the project MobiPioneer the impact potential of innovative Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS)-Offers such as Mobility budgets and Mobility bundles empirically examined. In order to analyze the effectiveness of these instruments, the project is divided into three Use cases structured: Commuter mobility, Everyday mobility and Mobility at major events. These real-world laboratories are investigating how MaaS instruments affect mobility behavior in different application contexts. The aim of the project is to scientifically evaluate the extent to which mobility budgets and bundles can have an effective steering effect towards sustainable mobility in the Munich metropolitan region compared to traditional transport policy measures.

For the support of these real laboratories, which are Summer and fall 2026 are being carried out, we are looking for April 01, 2026 one research assistant. We are looking for a person with an interest in the following areas Sustainable mobility, Participation, Science communication and Real-world laboratory research.

Applicants should be in a Master's program like Human geography, Politics and Technology, Transportation Systems or a comparable subject related to Mobility, Sustainability and Data analysis be enrolled. The position is initially limited until the end of the semester, an extension will be sought. The Weekly working time is up to 20 hourscustomization is possible by arrangement.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Support in the conception, organization and implementation of participation formats and events
  • Participation in the evaluation and analysis of participation and real laboratory results
  • Support in the preparation of results in presentations, reports and scientific texts
  • Literature research and summary of relevant studies and project reports

Requirements:

  • Enrolled Master's student
  • Experience in the organization of events and participation formats
  • Outgoing and open demeanor, with pleasure in direct exchange with different actors (e.g. participants, project partners) in the real laboratories
  • Independent, structured and reliable way of working
  • Confident handling of Microsoft Office, Zotero, MAXQDA
  • Very good knowledge of German (at least C1 level)

What is MOSAIQ?
Imagine something: There is more space for people. The streets have more trees and plants. Everyone can get around better. That's how your Schwabing-West district could be in the future. How would you like your district to be? We want to talk to you about it!

The project is called MOSAIQ. MOSAIQ is a research∙project. MOSAIQ means: Mobility and urban climate in the future city∙part. The Technical University of Munich is leading the project.

What is MOSAIQ about?
MOSAIQ wants to make the streets in the city∙part more beautiful. People should feel comfortable there. There should be more space. For meetings and plants, for example. You can help decide what is tried out in the Stadt∙teil. The ideas come from you. Some ideas will be tried out on the streets for a certain period of time.
The aim of MOSAIQ is to make urban districts good places to live.
At the same time, the climate in the city should improve. And people should be able to move around the city easily. 

What is happening in the district?

  • In the year 2025:
    The people in the district can participate. They can express their ideas. There are discussions, surveys and meetings. Researchers are also starting their work.
  • In the year 2026:
    Some ideas are tried out.
    They are moved around the streets for a certain period of time.
  • In the year 2027:
    The results are evaluated.
    Consideration is given to how things can continue∙.
