The future of mobility in 3 words:

Autonomous, Intelligent, Networked

About me

MCube:

  • What fascinates you about the Munich Innovation Powerhouse?
    • In Munich, national and international high-tech companies meet top scientific research - this unique concentration of know-how and innovative strength makes the city an ideal place to shape the mobility of the future.
  • What key challenge do you see for the future of mobility in general?
    • Disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence will fundamentally change the mobility of the future - it is crucial that this change is safe, fair and accessible for everyone.
  •  What perspective or expertise do you bring to MCube, which project are you leading or which topic do you exemplify?
    • Together with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Betz, I am leading the ASUR project. We are researching how autonomous driving can be implemented safely and efficiently in both urban and rural areas - including with our TUM research vehicle EDGAR.
  • "For me, MCube means..."
    • ...lived innovative strength - based on trust, cooperation and open exchange across the boundaries of individual institutions and companies.

Curriculum vitae: Marvin is a research assistant and PhD student at the Chair of Autonomous Vehicle Systems (AVS) at the Technical University of Munich. In his research, he deals with motion planning in autonomous driving, in particular with real-life testing on our research vehicle EDGAR. He gained his first practical experience at IAV in Chemnitz, where he worked on software solutions for autonomous driving as a student trainee and as part of his final thesis. His academic background is in physics (B.Sc., Oldenburg) and electrical engineering with a focus on networked intelligent systems (M.Sc., Mittweida).

What is MOSAIQ?
Imagine something: There is more space for people. The streets have more trees and plants. Everyone can get around better. That's how your Schwabing-West district could be in the future. How would you like your district to be? We want to talk to you about it!

The project is called MOSAIQ. MOSAIQ is a research∙project. MOSAIQ means: Mobility and urban climate in the future city∙part. The Technical University of Munich is leading the project.

What is MOSAIQ about?
MOSAIQ wants to make the streets in the city∙part more beautiful. People should feel comfortable there. There should be more space. For meetings and plants, for example. You can help decide what is tried out in the Stadt∙teil. The ideas come from you. Some ideas will be tried out on the streets for a certain period of time.
The aim of MOSAIQ is to make urban districts good places to live.
At the same time, the climate in the city should improve. And people should be able to move around the city easily.

What is happening in the district?

  • In the year 2025:
The people in the district can participate. They can express their ideas. There are discussions, surveys and meetings. Researchers are also starting their work.
  • In the year 2026:
    Some ideas are tried out.
They are moved around the streets for a certain period of time.
  • In the year 2027:
    The results are evaluated.
Consideration is given to how things can continue∙.
