24th Appointment Speaker Series - Future of Logistics: Electric & Autonomous

Discuss with us how logistics can be rethought.

Logistics is facing profound change. Rising transport volumes, ambitious climate targets, scarce energy infrastructures and the increasing shortage of drivers pose major challenges for companies, politicians and society. At the same time, new technologies are opening up enormous opportunities: electric drives, intelligent charging systems and autonomous driving are changing the way goods are transported - quieter, cleaner, more efficient and increasingly automated.

But how can the leap from pilot project to widespread use be made? What technical, regulatory and infrastructural requirements are needed to ensure that electric and autonomous trucks can be used economically and reliably? And what role does Munich play as a model region for the logistics of the future?

In this edition of the MCube Speaker Series - together with EntrepreneurTUM - we are focusing on two key topics for the future: Energy & autonomy. The focus will be on the „Truck Charging“ project as the key to the electrification of heavy goods transport and current developments in autonomous freight transport.

Together with partners from science, industry and the public sector, we discuss,

  • how truck charging is moving from a pilot project to a scalable infrastructure,

  • what potential megawatt charging offers for long-distance transportation and

  • how autonomous trucks will shape the logistics of tomorrow.

Using specific practical examples from the Munich model region, we will show how energy, technology and regulation must work together to make sustainable logistics a reality.

Our speakers bring together perspectives that otherwise rarely sit at the same table. In short impulses, you will gain insights into current projects, practical experiences and strategic considerations. Afterwards, we invite you to an open discussion and exchange.

Whether you are professionally involved in logistics, mobility, energy or digitalization, are interested in sustainable transport solutions or simply want to know what the logistics of tomorrow will look like - this event offers you inspiration, concrete insights and valuable contacts.

Central questions of our discussion

  • How can the charging of eTrucks be simplified in technical, regulatory and operational terms?

  • What role does megawatt charging play for long-distance transportation and logistics corridors?

  • How can autonomous freight transport strengthen Munich as a business location?

  • What does it take to bring electric and autonomous logistics to scale?

Our speakers

  • Maximilian Zähringer (CEO at FRYTE) & Maximilian Ritz (Senior Service Designer at UnternehmerTUM)

  • Dr. Anna Julia Sprung (Head of Product Strategy Truck at MAN Truck & Bus)

  • Tobias Wagner (long-distance electric trucker)

  • Katrin Herda (Head of E-Mobility & Energy Solutions at TST Group)

  • Ernst-Benedikt Riehle (Head of Mobility, Commercial Transport at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich & Upper Bavaria)

Moderation: Oliver May-Beckmann (MCube Managing Director)

The event is free of charge, invites you to think along and is aimed at everyone.

Register now for free and join the discussion on how logistics can be rethought. From 6 p.m. you will have the opportunity to view an e-truck and discuss the topic of truck charging.

„Future of Mobility“ is a series of lectures organized by MCube (Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions), the Technical University of Munich and the German Museum.

What is MOSAIQ?
Imagine something: There is more space for people. The streets have more trees and plants. Everyone can get around better. That's how your Schwabing-West district could be in the future. How would you like your district to be? We want to talk to you about it!

The project is called MOSAIQ. MOSAIQ is a research∙project. MOSAIQ means: Mobility and urban climate in the future city∙part. The Technical University of Munich is leading the project.

What is MOSAIQ about?
MOSAIQ wants to make the streets in the city∙part more beautiful. People should feel comfortable there. There should be more space. For meetings and plants, for example. You can help decide what is tried out in the Stadt∙teil. The ideas come from you. Some ideas will be tried out on the streets for a certain period of time.
The aim of MOSAIQ is to make urban districts good places to live.
At the same time, the climate in the city should improve. And people should be able to move around the city easily.

What is happening in the district?

  • In the year 2025:
The people in the district can participate. They can express their ideas. There are discussions, surveys and meetings. Researchers are also starting their work.
  • In the year 2026:
    Some ideas are tried out.
They are moved around the streets for a certain period of time.
  • In the year 2027:
    The results are evaluated.
Consideration is given to how things can continue∙.
